The code needed to run these tables on VPX have absolutely nothing to do with the real table (it's code written by the community). Most of these tables only exist physically.

It's usually used with software where people download or distribute full software. Now calling the table makers pirates depends on how you define pirate. They often use artwork and design from another company. If you're arguing that no one should legally be able to distribute these, you just might be right as, at least in some form, they are trying to replicate an actual product that's owned by another company. There's a lot of things here, but I think I can help answer this. There's literally proof of what consequences are going down this road and yet people are still arguing over it all. It's people like Nate who directly contributed to Vpinball shutting down and some high profile creators quitting. All they ask is for us, the people benefiting from their hard work to do one simple thing. Īt the end of the day this all pisses of the creators, and that only results in less tables being produced. Resulting in people profiting over the table creators hard work. People who produce table packs also encourage others who do it for $. People who distribute table packs completely go against that whole ethos. They want to foster a positive community. They want to see people enjoying their work. These creators choose where they host their work because they want to build said community. They make it what it is by spending literally hundreds of hours painstakingly creating the tables. The table creators ARE the vpinball community. It's not about copyright or even ownership.
